Basilur is a Ceylon tea brand from Sri Lanka. Union Trade is Basilur's agent for UK and European retail. We present the range to grocery, specialty and department-store buyers in the United Kingdom and the European Union, and support them from the first meeting to the repeat order.
How does our representation work?
As Basilur's agent for UK and European retail:
- Retail buyers in the UK and the EU have one contact at Union Trade, from the first meeting through ordering.
- We present the range, explain where it fits in the tea category and recommend the lines that suit each channel.
- We coordinate samples, product data, trade terms and orders with the Basilur team.
- Before a listing, we review labels and product claims for the destination market with the Basilur team.
- Basilur remains the producer and brand owner. We represent it commercially.
What do retail buyers get?
- A category presentation showing where the range fits on a UK or European tea shelf and which lines suit your format.
- Samples of the products you want to evaluate.
- Trade terms and product data on request: pack formats, case configurations, barcodes, ingredients and allergen information.
- Ordering and logistics support: orders, documentation and delivery scheduling, handled with Basilur and its logistics partners.
- Follow-up after listing: promotional planning and range reviews.

How does Union Trade choose which brands to represent?
We look at product fit with the channels we sell into, compliance readiness for the destination market, reliability of supply, and whether the price structure leaves room for importer, distributor and retailer margins. We also check for conflicts with brands we already represent. If the fit is right, we agree scope, territory and terms in writing before we contact buyers.
What should a brand send us first?
Your brand name and website, product category, current markets and target markets, available certifications and specification sheets. Product photos or a current sales presentation help. Choose "Represent my brand" on our contact page. We review every inquiry and reply within two working days, either with questions or with a clear view on fit.
